About Nowhere Scenic

Nowhere Scenic started with a simple mission:
Uncovering the hidden gems and slept-on locations that the guidebooks don't touch.

We were tired of hearing "this place is so boring! there's nothing to do."

From our experience living in Oregon's Rogue Valley, we knew this wasn't true.
While having been here only a year, locals come to us for our fav spots.

As avid hikers and history buffs, we never take an adventure for granted.
We'll be honest, we know this won't be for everyone.
Some are content to just hit the highlights then move on.

However...if you're the type that loves the outdoors, taking the dirt road, and soaking up the thrill of exploration...well then...you've come to the right place!

The problem with most travel advice

Repetitive...Most travel content and guidebooks point people to the same places.
That's fine if the goal is efficiency or the tourist traps.

Expensive...We can't be the only ones who road travel guides like novels.
As fun as this daydream is, the itineraries suggested for most experiences is more than we could afford. Hotels, tours, fancy dining, excursions...it's too much.

Inflexible...Some travel companies outline their schedule/itinerary with military precision. We've served in the US Navy and are quite content with the freedom of civilian life. When it comes to how I spend my day off? I would prefer choices.

Nowhere Scenic exists to provide hidden gems across the region where the only thing you've got to worry about is filling up the gas tank.

Why a card deck?

This project didn't start as an app or a website.

It became a card deck because cards are simple, physical, and to the point.
They don't demand attention. They don't track your location. They don't expire.

You can flip through them at home, throw one in the glove box, or immediately attempt to experience as many locations as possible like a lightning round!

Who's Behind It

Nowhere Scenic is an independent project based in Southern Oregon.

It's built by someone who's spent years traveling the country for work and been fortunate enough to have explored many places that most people pass through.

This project brings a whole mentality shift in going out and doing things in the wild. It's no longer rushing to check things off the list, but rather an opportunity to slow down and explore...all with a deck of cards.

Why this is ongoing

Southwestern Oregon is the first chapter, not the conclusion.

The long-term plan is to keep building.
Region by region, release by release. Without rushing or overextending.

The goal is simple: make it easier for people to notice what's already around them.

Built from experience.
Designed to last.
Meant to be used.
